Customer Testimonials or Bragging

The Following are un-solicited testimonials from happy customers, as you would expect. Well, we are not going to print complaints or nasty comments are we?

This letter is from Peter Locke, who maintains models for Miniature World in Victoria, British Columbia. Part of the display is a section called The New London Town Diorama. The display is a freelance OO scale display of London, measuring about 16 feet by 3 feet. It is not a depiction of any particular section of London but rather a compilation of recognizable points of interest - Buckingham Palace, Harrods store, Victoria monument and others - all greatly compressed. The diorama was built to showcase a collection of OO scale buses and trams.

The display runs two trams on two separate loops which are both individually started by a visitor pressing a button. The tram runs the loop once then stops waiting for the next time the button is pushed. On any given summer day over 1000 people will pass through the exhibit and most will press the button or at least one in their group will press the button. That translates into probably continuous running for half a day - 6 hours in the summer. In the winter the hours are far less but these trams run every day. In March of each year They have a special event for 5 days straight and the trams run continuously all day each day, no stops. Thats 8 hours per day continuously for 5 days.

"Just wanted to update you on the Bull Ant power trucks you supplied a few years back for our trolley units in our model exhibit. I've lost track but I think it wil be 3 years this September since i installed the first set of power trucks and they are still operational. I have had to change out one motor ( not bad for 4 trucks in constant operation) and the only other parts that have worn out were a couple of the wheel wipers. I've modified these for our purposes by adding a little phosphor bronze wiping pad to each end of the wiper (the pads are soldered on and are the contact with the wheels). In this fashion I can merely replace the pads and keep the wipers intact for conductivity and pressure. It works well for our purposes and does not require changing out the wipers. Other than than, I've disassembled and thoroughly serviced each operational truck twice now - no signs of adverse wear. Lubrication is kept monitored but other than a quick check and wheel cleaning every month there is no indication that these are failing at all - after 2-1/2 years of commercial application. The amount of running is determined by public attendance of our show since each trolley is started by a visitor pressing a button. On some days, in the winter months, this can be minimal. However, these units have performed flawlessy during our peak seasons when they are operational (ready to run when activated) for 12 hours per day, every day. Other trucks never attained that standard of service with motor replacement being far more frequent and gear wear being significant after 1 year.

Thank you for a superior product, it is nice to see something that not only lives up to our initial challenge but supercedes it."
